THE BACKPAGE #23

As we move through the first year of the Mind Body Heart program, it is becoming more clear from the data we are collecting that those boys who are committing to their training and are involved in competitive level teams are also performing well academically. This week our Athletics team is away at Narrabeen for the AAGPS Athletics Team Camp. As part of this Camp we will be running academic tutoring for the boys. We intend to show boys that the same principles of goal setting and commitment to training that are applied on the sporting field can also be applied to their studies. We all look forward to working with the boys in both areas.

I would like to congratulate Andy Kovari and the entire Snowsports community on another successful NSW Interschools Snowsports Championship. Once again both the Prep and Senior Schools have been crowned NSW Champions. We look forward to hearing of the team's success with a large number of boys competing at the National Championships in two weeks' time.

Tomorrow morning marks an historic moment in the history of Sport at the College, with presentations being made at Assembly to both the 1st and 2nd XV Premiership Rugby teams. The assembly will take place in the Main Quad. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of both these teams with the College.

Senior Sport
From Ed White, Senior Sportsmaster

Congratulations to those boys who competed last weekend in Athletics at Sydney Olympic Park. The team looks to be building momentum heading into the AAGPS Athletics Championships on Saturday 10 September. The highlight of the day was our Open 4x100m team of Dwayne Koroka, Angus Chadwick, Ryan Adams and Tom Yassmin holding off tough competition from Joeys and King's to win in an impressive 42.7 seconds. Good luck to the team this week at the team camp and at the last pre-season competition this Saturday.

Our Summer Sport trials are now fully underway with boys preparing for the upcoming season.

Prep Sport
Congratulations to the Snowsports team for another successful NSW Interschools Snowsports Championship this week. The team will compete in two weeks' time at the National Championships. Good Luck!

This Week in Sport
