Our captain of Football, Aref Taleb spoke brilliantly at assembly last week about what it means to play as part of a team, describing how the team has developed into a unit where 11 players unselfishly play as one. This reminds me of a quote from the 1857 novel Tom Brown's School Days where following a cricket victory Tom says 'I'll tell you what I think, it's because we've more reliance on one another, more of a house feeling, more fellowship than the school can have. Each of us knows and can depend on his next hand man better - that's why we beat em today'.

It was a great Saturday for Sport at the College. Our boys showed outstanding leadership in the way they carried themselves throughout the day. Every boy in the College plays a role in our sports program. There full commitment to training and competing, as a team will ultimately lead not only to our success on the playing field but the development and character of a Fine Scots Boy.

Thank you to the Snowsports committee for organising an outstanding pre-season party. Matt Graham spoke of his commitment to his education whilst training as part of the National program, an inspirational story that should be heard by all young athletes.

This weekend Scots Rugby are hosting Shane Hogan’s alma marter !! GO SCOTS!!!! If you have not had the opportunity to see members of your tutor group play, or be part of the Saturday home game atmosphere, this will be a wonderful opportunity. Scots Football are also playing at home this weekend against Newington at St George stadium.

Scots to the Fore!

The Staff Wellbeing program is running extremely well. We have had increases in participation each week. Mobility/Mindset sessions are on Tuesday and Thursdaymornings at 6:30am. There is no need to sign up for these sessions.

Staff vs. Student Volleyball (next Tuesday 31 May at lunch time in the gym)

Weekend Roundup

From Ed White, Acting Senior Sportsmaster

Thank you to those coaches who travelled to Armadale last Friday, the boys enjoyed dinner at Scone Rugby club before travelling on to a cold night at TAS. Many Thanks to those staff who filled in for me in my absence.

Great Saturday for our Volleyball teams with wins for the 1sts, 2nds, 3rds and 16a's. The Year 8 boys continue to develop and there were great individual performances from Ethan Yetman and Lachlan Stephens.

Congratulations to our 14a's who had a strong win with Lachlan Harris having played an outstanding game. The 15b's also had a great win with Jack Shakespeare winning the man of the match.

Cross Country

Saturday was the CIS and AAGPS team selection trials. Congratulations to the entire team for an their outstanding performance. 24 boys qualified to compete representing the AAGPS at the CIS Championship. Team Captain Harrison Murdoch had a great race qualifying for this years AAGPS team along with year 11's Jack Freer and Madison Weekes.

There was a great atmosphere at Joey's on the weekend with 1sts and 2nds victorious on the day. A special mention to Lee Morley and Dan Roach, 2nd XV coaches who’s team recorded a 34-0 victory on Joey’s number one oval. Unfortunately our 3rds lost 13-12 against Armidale.  Congratulations to Hamish Lavendar who was man of the match in a strong win against Joey's in the 14fs.

From Brent Wilsmore (Prep Sportsmaster)

Overall another excellent round for Prep teams. A number of teams continue their undefeated seasons. To highlight this, across rugby and football we have won or drawn 82% of all games played.

A small number of boys have incurred injuries on Saturday during school sport. These have been referred to Dr Webster at the Clinic. The feedback we have received from parents about the care we are providing to boys is exceptional and greatly appreciated. This is a great credit to the School that we can be very proud of.

Last week Kobe Banks and Charlie Michell were members of the NSWCIS AFL Team that won the NSWPSSA AFL Championships for the first time.

This week we have 7 boys at the NSWCIS Rugby Trials. We also have Athletics Trials for all boys in Years 2-6 on the Main Oval on Thursday and Friday.

This Saturday Rd6 games in Rugby are primarily against Riverview. I look forward to seeing how we go across both campuses.

AAGPS Cross Country Team Selections

Congratulations to Cross Country team captain Harrison Murdoch and teammates Jack Freer and Madison Weekes who gained selection on the 8 man AAGPS Cross Country team for this season.  The Open boys team are currently leading the premiership race with Sydney Boys High hot on their heels.
