THE BACKPAGE #9

Thank you to everyone involved in the organisation and running of the Scots Easter 7s.  It was a fantastic community event with teams competing from all over NSW and New Zealand.  It was great to see so many staff members and their families out enjoying the day.  I would like to extend a special thanks to Brian Smith and Ed White for all of their hard work in running such a high profile event.

Weekend Roundup
From Ed White, Acting Senior Sportsmaster

This week, we move into our first round of winter sport, with most teams taking on Riverview.  This should be a great test for our rugby and soccer programs after a summer of hard work in off-season training.

A reminder that all boys must be in full sports uniform, however no boys should be in classes in sport uniforms.  I encourage all teachers to notify me if any boys are not following this rule.

From Brent Wilsmore, Prep Sportsmaster

Last week, we held our House Cross Country Carnival at Queens Park for all boys in Years 2 to 6. With the use of timing bands all boys received a place and time and this contributed to the overall House pointscore won by Deane House. The Cross Country team will now compete at the IPSHA carnival at Kings on Saturday.

For first time, we also entered two Prep Opens teams in the Rugby 7s on Saturday and this was an excellent experience for everyone involved.

Winter Sport trials continue this week in regular sports practice time as well as in PDHPE.
