After two weeks of undefeated play, the Scots 1st XI are the 2014 GPS T20 Champions!
In the semi final on the weekend, the Scots 1st XI took on Riverview College. All bowlers contributed during the Riverview innings and as a bowling unit, they were able to keep the Riverview team to 91. In reply, Scots scored the required 91 in 12 overs with Angus Simpson scoring an unbeaten 54, playing well all around the ground.
In the final, Scots took on last years GPS premiers Newington. Scots won the toss and elected to bat first posting a very competitive total of 7/135 (Lawrance 30, Mills 29, Simpson 28, Hooke 28). Scots bowled well throughout the Newington innings and with 4 overs to go, Newington required 26 runs. Henry Thornton and Ryan O'Beirne both bowled extremely well at the death and with 6 balls to go, the opposition required 12 runs. Ryan showed great control in his last over, leaving Newington with 6 to win off the final ball. Ryan bowled a dot ball and Scots took out the competition winning by 5 runs.
Over the course of the weekend, the 5th X1, 16A's, 15A's, 15B's, 14A's and 14B's also won their respective matches. To see a summary of all games over the weekend please click here.
