TAS 2014 Rugby Tournament

On the weekend of the 12 and 13 April, 18 members of the Prep 1st XV Rugby
squad made the annual trip north to Armidale for the TAS Rugby Tournament.
This year was the 10th anniversary of the tournament and this attracted a
record 50 schools from across New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT.

The tournament is broken down into 4 games on Saturday of 20 minutes in
length and 1 game on the Sunday which acts as a playoff match of 45
minutes in length. Scots were entered into division two which comprised of
4 pools of 5 teams and thus saw each team play each of the other teams in
their pool on the Saturday. The other schools in our pool were Padua
College from Brisbane, Shore, TAS and Wollongbar Pioneers. After 4 very
tough matches we finished the day with 2 wins and 2 losses, with victories
over Shore and TAS and defeat to two very powerful teams in Padua and
Wollongbar.

On day two of the tournament we found ourself playing off for 10th
position in division two against St Mary’s Armidale. In our best
performance of the weekend we had a resounding victory 27-5 and finished
the tournament in 10th place. All in all it was a great weekend of rugby
and the style of rugby that the boys played was very entertaining and
received plenty of positive feedback from parents and coaches of the other
teams.

A great way to build for a very successful 2014!
