In great news for the College, 1st XI Captain Henry Thornton has been selected in the NSW Under 17’s team to participate in the Australian Championships in South Australia in January 2014. Henry is the only GPS representative selected in the NSW side.
Henry has been involved in a selection process that began in early April and at every step along the way, Henry has been able to prove to the NSW selectors that he is a tremendous cricketer that has earned the right to represent the State of NSW. Henry has been selected as a Fast bowling all rounder and nowhere were these skills better displayed than on the weekend in the 1st XI fixture against the Shore school. Henry hit a tremendous 122 on the weekend that involved great technique coupled with extreme. Henry was well supported by Johnothan Liapis who scored 61, in a knock that helped set up the Scots innings. The Shore school eventually dismissed Scots for 274. In reply, Scots have Shore at 3/71, with Henry again showing his all round skill picking up 2 wickets before the close of play.
