Scots boys Isaac Humphries, Brennen Rymer and Cameron Healy represented the NSW U16 Metro team at the U16 National Championships in South Australia, July 2013.
The NSW team presented as firm favourites throughout the pool games, finishing on top of their pool after strong wins against Victoria Country, South Australia Country, Queensland South, New Zealand and Western Australia Country. Firsts GPS Premiership player, Isaac Humphries (Year 10) was setting the standard at the Championships, averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.
After defeating traditional rivals Victoria Metro in the Semi Final, the NSW team was to face NSW Country in the Gold Medal game. Brennan Rymer (Year 10) and Cameron Healy (Year 9) left their best performances for the Gold Medal game, with Cameron scoring at will in the first half, including three in a row from behind the three point line. With a double digit lead at half time, Isaac who captained the NSW team, were run down by a persistant NSW Country team in overtime.
Isaac will be preparing for selection in the Australian U17 team later this year, whilst Brennan and Cameron will continue their preparation for the coming GPS season.
The Scots boys left with a silver medal and runners up at the National Championships. Congratulations.
