The Scots College 1sts Basketball team were once again crowned GPS Champions after finishing the season undefeated. This is the third consecutive premiership for the 1sts Basketball team.

Scots defeated Newington College on Saturday 16 March in a final game watched by hundreds of eager spectators.

“Jonathan Mbakwe was unstoppable. He scored 28 points during the match and was backed up by team mates Kai Healy and Sergio Antelmi who also gave outstanding performances,” said David Todd Director of Basketball at The Scots College.

Throughout the season, Scots also won the prestigious Sydney Schools Shootout and Trinity Cup Championships.

Basketball at The Scots College has an ongoing history of excellence. Gerard Martin received a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport for Basketball at the start of 2013 and Kai Healy represented the Australian U18 ‘3 on 3’ Basketball team at the Youth Olympics in 2012.

“It was a pleasure witnessing these fine Scots boys making College history as they strove for excellence together. They demonstrated a spirit of camaraderie and shared team success throughout the basketball season and we are proud of their achievements,” said Dr Ian PM Lambert, Principal of The Scots College.
