In a fantastic weekend for The Scots Cricket Program, both the 1st and 2nd X1 GPS teams had victories over The Shore School, with the 1st X1 taking maximum points after beating Shore outright.
In the 1st X1 match, Scots had Shore 3/41 overnight, after posting 9 declared for 256. Tom Skelly was able to strike early, taking 2 wickets in his first spell. Tom bowled with good pace and accuracy and was able to claim his first 5-wicket haul for the College. He was well backed up by James Manns (3 wickets) and Nick Kellaway (2 wickets). The Scots 1st X1 team was able to dismiss shore for 90 and as a result, enforced the follow on.
Scots made a great start to their 2nd innings bowling efforts having Shore 3/7, thanks in large part to a great opening spell from Nick Kellaway. Shore then mounted a fight back adding 60 runs for the 4th wicket. Once this partnership was broken, Scots were able to take regular wickets and managed to bowl Shore out for 105, with Henry Thornton taking 3 wickets, Tom Skelly 3 and Nick Kellaway 2. Scots have now taken maximum points in their first 2 GPS matches and head into this weeks tough fixture against Joeys with good momentum.
The 2nd X1 had a very exciting match against Shore at Northbridge oval. Needing only 40 for victory, Scots unfortunately lost quick wickets and ended up needing 10 runs with only one wicket in hand. Thanks in large part to some consistent hitting from Tom Hawkins, Scots managed to pass the Shore total, and held on for the rest of the day to take 1st innings points from the match.
Special mention must also go to Ben Baker from the 14B’s. He was influential in his teams victory over Sydney Boys High on Saturday, taking the extremely impressive figures of 5 for 1!!! Well done Ben.
Good luck to all players and coaches in this weekends fixtures against Joeys.
