Last Saturday, the 1st and 2nd X1 teams qualified for the GPS T2O finals this coming weekend.
In the 1st X1, Scots were able to win both games, after rain washed out their 1st match on Saturday morning. In their first match, Scots were able to hold Kings to 68 runs off their dedicated 16 overs (match was reduced due to a late start) thanks in large part to Tom Skelly who took 2 for 6 off 4 overs. Scots opening batsmen Gavin Ho and Will Eaton took to the wicket and scored the required 69 runs in just 7 overs.
In the second match, Scots came up against Sydney Grammar. Grammar batted first and posted a total of 97. Scots lost a few early wickets but Will Eaton and JJ Coutts were able to steady the ship and leave Scots needing 40 off the final 24 balls. Thanks to some big hitting from JJ and Kurt Atkinson, Scots scored the required 98 runs with 4 balls remaining.
The 2nd X1 also won two matches last weekend. Scots College kept Kings to 9/83 in their first match and in reply posted 5/86. In their second match against Sydney Boys High, Scots posted the impressive total of 5/182 off their 20 overs with Tom Hawkins making 89 in an innings of big hitting and great control. In reply, Sydney Boys High only posted 4/111 off their allocated overs.
Both teams will play in a semi final on Saturday morning, and if successful, will play in the final of the GPS T2O Competition for 2012.
