The U16A side prepared well during the week and were confident going into the game against an undefeated Joeys team. As this was the teams first game on the main oval, all the players were extremely motivated.
Scots started the game very well putting enormous pressure on Joeys who contained Scots’ attack well. After 15 mins narrowly had a 3-0 lead. The rest of the half was disappointing for Scots, due to the numerous mistakes and turnovers. Joeys went into the break 11-3 up and would have been confident of victory.
Scots fly half, Jack Maddocks charge down changed the game as he run away to score a fantastic try. At 11-10 Scots was suddenly invigorated.
Two well constructed trys to Jackson Dowling pushed Scots into a 22-10 lead with 10 minutes to play. Joeys threw everything at Scots and finally scored another try to make it 22-18.
Scots’ loose forwards Taylor Deer, George Carroll and Ben Jeavous-Fellows were outstanding as was Captain Toby Rudolf.
The final whistle was met with real joy and a sense of achievement as reflected in the photo of the Director of Sport, Mr Cameron Torrance and his team.
