Mr. Graeme Dedrick Rugby Award Recipient

The Scots College has produced some of Australia’s finest rugby players, at both a senior and schoolboy level. While current Australian Schoolboys Andrew Kellaway, David Horwitz and Jim Stewart were breaking tackles against the Tongan Schools team, the Australian Schools Rugby Union Committee were under consideration for the awardee of the prestigious 'Merv & Iris Allen Award’.

The 'Merv & Iris Allen Award’ is awarded “for significant contribution to Schools’ Rugby by a teacher.” This award was established in 1994. Merv Allen was President of the Australian Schools’ Rugby Union when he died. Prior to this he was President of the NSW Schools Rugby Union, NSW Combined High Schools and held many other posts in Schools Rugby and sports generally. Both Merv and his wife Iris, were long time supporters of Schools Rugby.

It is with great pleasure to announce the 2012 recipient of the 'Merv & Iris Allen Award’, is College Senior Sportsmaster, Mr. Graeme Dedrick.

Mr. Dedrick is a College Old Boy, former 1st XV player and 1st XI cricketer. Mr. Dedrick has served as the College Sportsmaster and played a significant role in a wide range of sports at Scots.

Mr. Graeme Dedrick’s involvement in schoolboy rugby includes:

Assistant Coach – NSW Schools 1st XV 2000 – 2004
Coach – NSW Schools 1st XV 2005 (National Champions) & 2006
NSW Schools Selector 2002-2012
Vice President NSW Schools Rugby 2008 – 2012
Australia “A” Manager 2002 – 2005
Australian Schools Manager 2006 – 2009 with Tours to Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand, Ireland and UK
