On Saturday 7 April, The Scots College will play host to the Investec Schoolboy Rugby Sevens.
The Scots College is the home of the Australian Schoolboy Rugby Sevens. This annual one-day event celebrates its third year, targeting the most ambitious and forward-thinking rugby schools in Australia.
Scots are offering a complete package to all participating schools as well as exposure to some of Australia’s most prominent rugby personnel, all in a spectacular setting overlooking Sydney Harbour.
“The event is going from the strength to strength,” says Marcus Blackburn the Director of Rugby at The Scots College. “As the profile continues to increase, more schools have approached us wishing to participate in this great event. However as we follow and adhere to the IRB World Sevens Series model of all games taking place on one oval it means the number of schools are restricted to 12. This adds to the spirit and momentum of the event.”
He added that The Scots College sponsor Investec Bank, “have been a key element in helping us establish the tournament of a premier nature, which was always the goal. Both Investec Bank and Scots share an aim for high standards, and through this, we make sure the experience for all involved – players, coaches, spectators – is a brilliant one.”
The 2012 tournament features 12 Under 18s teams from some of the most ambitious rugby schools and development programs in Australia, including Scots.
Congratulations to the Lloyd McDermott team who defeated St Ignatius’ College in the Final.
